At my tyre shop today was a W204 220 Sport - 2011.

Ready to replace the worn out rears were the 225/45/17's the guy had ordered.

What was on the front?

Shouldn't it be 245/40/17 for the rears, 225/45/17 are the fronts

Any takers - you can phone a friend......

If that's right, then a lowly C220 has the same tyre set-up as the SLK 350, yet I'm sure there must be a fair difference in the respective performance of these two models.

More to do with style over performance..

My lowly 270cdi has the same sizes (in the winter)

Sport spec - AMG styling.

The question remains unanswered.

My guess is that he had swapped the fronts with the rears?

Did he have 245s on the front?

Seems a crazy guess I know, but there are some seriously dense people out there.

Bingo :thumb:

As a Sport it had staggered AMG wheels/bodykit.

They were front to back (quite literally) and it didn't come to light until the tyre shop went to change all four.

They had actually ordered 4 x 225/45/17 at the customers request, only to find that the exisitng fronts were the wrong size.

He'd had the car six months as an approved used and hadn't had the wheels off since he bought it

He'd not noticed any handling problems, however, it was his first Merc, he'd only had it 6 months and he was, er, not junior.
