I understand that my W204 C-Class estate has a boot capacity of 480 litres. The newest Golf estate claims 605 litres (and is a few centimetres shorter). Is the W204 boot really that tiny? How did they make it that small compared to other similar-sized cars??

I'm not sure how it's so small!? I was surprised when looking for an estate how small it was. My old Honda Civic was bigger at 485! I ended up with an S212 in the end which is huge.

Would go for one of those in a heartbeat if parking wasn't so tight in our street - not that it has deterred others buying a Jag XF estate, a BMW X5, Merc ML350, etc, etc!

Yes I can certainly confirm that the relatively modest increase in external dimensions (S204 compared to S212) seems to belie the considerable increase in interior room.
