C124 - 220 - Wiring Loom / ECU?

Guys,

Wiring Looms are £350 ish.....but ECU's are ridiculous. My mechanic has suggested that wiring loom needs to be replaced...potentially leading to an ECU replacement.

What are the options here? They surely cannot be just getting them replaced at £900?!!!!!

Repair options? Second hand options?> Any options?

There are companies that repair ECUs. Are you sure it is dodgy. If you do the loom/coil packs early enough the ECU should be ok. The previous owner of our 124 replaced the loom and coil packs but unfortunately not before the ECU was knackered. Part alone was £1400 + vat! On the plus side we had a warranty which picked up most of the cost. I thought the loom problem was only on the 6 cylinder versions but might be wrong
