Any ideas???:dk:

Charcoal cannister.

Or a live shell...

put my ear to it,,,,cant hear the sea,so definatly not a shell, bloody strange place to put the charcoal filter,is it placed here as it neeeds replaced every five years?(about the time it takes for a w124 wing to rust):D??

service book says change every 72,000 miles, and your's may never have been changed - shame you didn't take the opportunity whilst it was easy.

been done, last recorded at 140,000 miles, along with new fuel tank etc.that was five years ago(30 thou miles ago)shame they didnt put a new wing on and cavity wax it at the same time,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

It uses the the engine manifold vacuum to evacuate it hence the close proximity to the engine compartment. In later models its located closer to the fuel tank
