thought I'd check in, after years of loving the old e class coupe i rushed into buying one last weekend ! Well i reasoned that I'd sold my SLK before going to look so was being quite responsible instead of adding a fith car to the household. I was that convinced this was the one for me i took the train and the cash, so what did i end up with....in my mind a reasonably rare spec, stuff like Blue Leather, cruise, heated seats, auto climate control and the electric rear window blind. Drives lovely, but boy does it need some tlc on the bodywork, a nasty rust patch on the drivers door, wheel arches, a dent in the rear wing and on the boot. And so on...still, i managed to fix the sticking sunroof this evening with a touch of grease, so happy about that. It reminds of the 190E i bought for my now ex wife about 10 or 11 years ago, really smooth ride, not to be rushed, perfect for economy driving. Hope to keep this for at least a year, as my more recent Mercs a C32 and an SLK only lasted 10 weeks, the C32 is just too fast for someone like me with no self control and the SLK was a really nice low mileage one and i was killing its value doing my 400 mile a week commute. Well thats my story so far...
