My 2007 C180 wheel nuts look as if they are rusting. This happened to a previous coupe i had and the dealer just painted them! Any help/ideas etc?

Your choices seem to be -

1 - Live with it
2 - Paint them, but they'll rust again
3 - Fit covers, but I found them hard to remove when necessary.
4 - Treat your car to a set of RAD bolts from here and never worry again! :thumb:

Surely Mercedes under warranty should fix the problem? Why should I be out of pocket? Thoughts?

It's a long-standing issue. For cost reasons, M-B stopped using bolts with a stainless steel end plate (on the right, below)

I doubt you will get anywhere on a warranty claim as it's purely cosmetic. No harm trying though.

As mentioned, the best option is a set of better quality replacement bolts.

Many thanks Bill, I'll have a go. If I buy replacement bolts what ones would I require? any ideas?

I would personally contact Alloy Wheels Direct (as per the link Gordon posted above). They are on this Forum as user "Murray Systems".

They are covered under warranty.

Go to an Audi dealer and get the cap wheel bolt covers and special tool too

You ought to be able to get them replaced under warranty - no harm in asking. However, even if they're replaced, they'll rust again before too long if replaced with the same type.

I contacted local dealer today and told them what you guys said! They are going to have a look on Thursday. Many thanks all!

Good result, well done!
