hi, i found a set of -50 cobra lowering springs on the web the other day for my 98 c180. the car currently has 17 inch amg c43 alloys, and the trim level is sport. has anyone dropped a c class this much, as -50 seems a lot of drop. is it difficult to carry out a spring change on these cars? could you do it your self or would you need a garage to carry out the work, any idea of cost? thank you

You would need a spring compressor, available from your local dealer for £600 :D

Seriously, do not try to use any old spring compressor as you will either kill yourself or do some serious damage to your car. There is a member on here who will hire you a set out if you do a search, think its Wongl, may be wrong though. I think your drop is going to be a bit on the steep side though. My personal opinion which counts for nothing. :p

You don't actiually need the spring compressor to change either front or rear springs, but it's easier if you do use it.

Is this 50mm drop against standard springs or the Sport ones your car has. Sport is about 20mm lower than standard.

You will require new dampers as well as springs and the camber setting will be way out.

I dropped an elegance 40mm and there was still plenty of room so not sure if sport dropped 50mm would work! 50mm from elegance or "higher" standard height would be ok I think.

MY C200 ESPIRIT looks lower than other C classes . why is this ??

do they come with lower standard suspension ??

because i've found a set of lowering springs to lower the car by -50mm front and -60mm rear :D:D

p.s: i do like low cars and i no they arent as comfortable as standard ride height from my previous cars but i feel it looks and handles better.
