c180 w202
I have a w202 c180, from cold the car will start and run ok for about 5 seconds then start misfiring and gradually stall. When the car heats up it will sit and idle perfectly with no problem but when you try and accelerate it starts misfiring and backfiring through the inlet manifold.

I have changed the o2 sensor with a genuine one and maf sensor also genuine part. Made no difference to the car at all.

Noticed that when the air is restricted going into the inlet manifold eg. Cover the intake pipe with your hand 80% and the car will rev perfectly. So I took the manifold off and got it smoke tested and it had no leaks, checked all vacuum pipes for cranks or holes but they are all perfect.

Seems the car is getting too much air and not enough fuel but there is no sign of the engine drawing air. I then changed the throttle body with a second hand one like for like out of a car that is running perfect and the same problem is still there, it made no difference.

I'm wondering now does the throttle position sensor alter the fuel/air ratio.

Any help is much appreciated.
