c180 water pump

hey folks
ive got a w202 c180 shes not the komp model and the water pump is gone in it :(
anyone knows how to change it?
ive a rough idea but not 100% sure
 
1/ disconnect the battery negative cable
2/ on models with viscous fan, remove the cooling fan by prising off the two spring clips at top of rad and lift upwards to disengage two lower locating lugs.
depending on model it may now be possable to remove the shroud completly, if not leave the shroud in place for now, as moving will interfere with fan removal.once the fan nut has been undone they will both lift out together.
3/ slacken but DONOT remove the bolts securing the coolent pump pulley.
4/ remove the auxililliary drive belt
5/ remove pulley bolts and take off pulley
6/ loosen and remove the pump bolts NOTING THERE LOCATION AS DIFFERENT LENTHS!!!!
7/ remove pump and retrieve old gasket (if one is fitted) pumps were originaly fitted using sealent.
clean maiting surfaces becareful not to scratch.
fit new pump and tighten bolts diagonal sequance (like you do wheel nuts) then put everything back togeather
 
You'll need quite an assortment of different shaped spanners,some of those pump bolts are awkward. I actually used one of those chain type oil filter wrenches to hold the pump pulley bolts while undoing the large nut that screws onto the pump (make sure you've got a spanner to fit that nut BEFORE you start) Also, there is a small hose that fits 'tween pump & thermo housing, get a new one, or regret it later ! Make sure your drive belt is good while you're at it.

ill take a couple of pics tomarow and upload them before i get crackin to see if its a 'viscous fan' or not cuz i havent a clue what you mean by that mate
 
It will be a viscous fan, (it engages or disengages with the heat of your engine, does your engine keep at a constant 82 degrees ? )
 
If its attached to the engine in any way its either a viscous unit or an electro mag jobby, if its bolted to the rad shroud with no mechanical connection to the engine its an electric one.
Pic below is viscous fan easy to tell by the fins on the large alloy lump in the middle, some held on by one single bolt through the middle others a large nut (36mm iirc).

the fan is connected to the pump pulley by the looks of it and the car is constantly just under the 80 degrees mark, well until the pump went :(
got a new pump today so the work might be done today or tomarow depending on when my mate has some space in the garage cuz the weather here is rotten
