I have read over a couple of the big threads on here with regards to the above but not sure where to start.

I had the filter above the battery cleaned by the garage i got the car from and i have attempted to use one of these air con cleaners that you jam on and leave inside the car with windows closed on recirculation etc but the spray lid had broken so i had to stand with my hand in the window spraying it till it finished then closing the window etc.

It hasnt worked (didnt expect to after i had to bodge the job lol) and it stinks real bad of cat urine or something.

Does anybody have any ideas (or photos) as to where i should be looking to see if the drainage pipes are blocked or whether i should get the filter changed.

If a filter change is required could anyone post the part number that i require. Its a w203 sportcoupe from 2003/04 with the manual climatronic (without the digital display).

Cheers.

Underneath the car, round about the bellhousing area, you should see a tube protruding from the floor. This is the A/C drain tube and is probably blocked.

It certainly sounds blocked!

Did the garage clean or replace the pollen filter?? It really needs replacing.

Is it possible these have the carbon filters under the passenger side too? I think unlikely but its amazing the different set-ups these cars have!!

Once unblocked etc I would give the cleaner another go - this time without a broken top!

Good luck :thumb:

Yes they said they cleaned the filter out but 2bh it didnt really smell any different after they had done that.

Dont think it has any carbon filters at all as it is the climatronic that doesnt have the digital display and afaik only these digital displays have the carbon filters.

Ill probably get another cleaner off fleabay and try once iv checked out the pipes.

First time i tried it the car stunk heavily of menthol/mint as the cleaner had obviously not gone through the system completely.

Cheers for the tips i shall have a look at the weekend.

Anybody got a part number for a replacement so i can see if i can get it from local motorfactors here in dundee?

Well i managed to get the car up on the ramps at my mates garage and cant seem to see any sort of pipe protruding from the floor near the bellhousing area.

Does anybody have any pics of where exactly and what i should be looking for?

Also on an unrelated note: whilst i had the car on the ramps i noticed that the black tray on the underside of the gearbox was covered in what looks like gearbox oil. I cleaned this all off and a closer look reveals that it may be leaking out from around the gasket.

Is this a common fault for the gasket to go on this section or does the cover just need tightened up?

It doesnt look like anything has been dripping onto the driveway since i got home and there was nothing there when i checked this morning.

Im not sure how long it has been this way so it may have just happened yesterday so i shall have another look underneath the car towards the end of the week and see what sort of condition the cover is in. It does look like it is leaking out very slowly so im not sure if ill find anything when i next check.

Any idea? I'll also post up a separate thread so that the actual problem can be seen from the thread header.
