C200 kompressor
Hello everyone, i have a very weird situation here, my car is a w204 c200 kompressor, m271 engine, 220k miles, the thing is that the engine is "eating" so much oil, the idle is rough when the engine is cold, missfiring randomly, any suggestions that i have to keep an eye on? what should i look for? Thanks in advice!

Welcome to the forum:thumb:

Can you see any obvious oil leaks?
Is there blue smoke on acceleration?
It's either leaking or using it.

I'd unplug the two connectors on the cam magnets on the front of the engine and see if you have oil leaking into the plugs.
If it goes up the wires it can enter the ECU and cause lots of problems. It's a known issue on an M271 engine.

Poor idling and misfiring could be plugs/and or coil pack failures or the result of oil ingress into the ECU. Probably needs to be diagnosed by a Mercedes specialist with STAR.

I see some leaks on the magnets, not big leak, its an old one, the rest looks to be ok, any chance that crankshaft ventilation being broken and causing oil consumption?

I'm afraid that's beyond my knowledge of the engine.

If you haven't fitted them I get a pair of the cam magnet wire blockers fitted. It should stop any further oil reaching the ECU.

Blocked crankcase ventilation breather, and a split vacuum hose under the air filter box, are two typical issues that can cause rough idle on the M271 engine. The former will likely also bring up the EML. The issue with the leaking camshaft position sensors is thar the oil goes up the wiring look and eventually gets into the ECU, and if this happens then it can only be fixed with a new (or second hand) ECU. Of course, the biggest issue with the M271 engine is with worn camshaft sprocket wheels, but if this was the case then the rough running would have gotten much worse whem the engine is revved up, rather than go away.

Blocked crankcase ventilation cannot cause the increased oil consumption?

Not directly. Blocked breathers can sometimes cause leaks from engine oil seals if the pressure is building up, but there would still need to be an oil leak somewhere. You might not see a leak under the car if the oil is dripping onto a hot exhaust pipe and burns off, but if this was the case then you'd certainly smell it

Yea.. the weird thing is that i cannot see any leaks anywhere else only on the magnets on the front, i was thinking about that broken crankshaft vent, if its defective, bringing oil along with vapors in the manifold and then... i don`t know i`m just pretending :-s

Any advice where the crankcase ventilation breather is located?
