C200 W204 not shifting from third to fourth gear

Hello. My C200 (2008) won't shift from 3rd to 4th. When it started misbehaving it went to 4th but not 5th. It shifts down OK. I can't even force it to change up using tiptronic. What sort of thing could cause this?

When was the transmission last serviced? Sometimes an oi change can solve this kind of thing.

Are you able to change into any other gear using the manual mode and is the engine e able to rev above 3000 rpm before changing gear in general.?

Yes, 1, 2, 3 fine, and yesterday I did manage to get it to change to 4 and 5, but it's not consistent. Sometimes it won't change. I tend not to drive it above 3,000 rpm but it will.

If it’s the 5g gearbox check the gearbox fluid level (buy a dipstick from eBay)
Gearbox oil and filter service should be every 40k miles .
A fault code is probably logged if a diagnostic scan is done .

Cheers. I've got it booked in for a transmission service. Oddly, I drove it the other day and it was changing gear up to 5th, albeit intermittently and sometimes needing manual intervention. It's back to sticking in 3rd again.

Before spending money on a fluid and filter change get it diagnosed properly -if the gearbox needs a repair then it is best done before changing the fluid.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I got this fixed. It was the wheel bearing that needed replacing. All good now.
