when replacing the magnet due to leaking oil. do you recommend just plugging the modified loom section onto the end or chopping off the old plug and splicing the new one in?

Just plug the moded loom in. No need to splice.

tried to wash the oil out with some brake spray but light still on.new magnet arriving monday.already had a very pricey o.e maf sensor.light still on, lasted 80 miles first time then only 5 second time round.

If you have oil in your engine loom then the only way to cure the issue is to replace the loom and fit the modified section too. You will find that the llambda sensors can also be contaminated by the oil.

have since discovered a split breather hose that leads to the check valve under the inlet manifold.gonna replace all these too and then try turning the light back off for good!
