Hello all,

Got 2 subjects I am seeking information on firstly towing a caravan and service intervals information

Jjjjjjj so a message came up on the dash informing me on the service A2 is due in 30 day's, I know "A" service's are minor and "B" service's require more work. My car has 28,000 miles and is a 2012 model so I think it is just an oil and filter change.

Does anybody know the order of these intervals and the work required?

As for the towing, I am looking into buying a 4 berth caravan.

Does anybody know what these cars can tow? Kerb weight and what the amount of weight you can tow as I'm unsure what I can have, I know my licence will only allow me a total of 3.5t

The car is a c250 amg sport diesel 2 door coupe

Thank's guy's

You can get the towing weight from the VIN plate. The first weight on there should be the maximum gross weight of the car, the second the maximum train weight allowed (car plus trailer). Subtract the first from the second and you'll get the trailer weight - from a quick Google it looks like this may be 1800 kg. However if the train weight on the VIN plate shows zero then it's not legal to fit a towbar (this is the case with some AMG line vehicles). Assuming that's not the case you need to get a 'type approved' towbar fitted to the car.

The guideline (not law) for towing a caravan (which has a lot of side area and a high centre of gravity) is that for good stability it shouldn't exceed 85% of the car's kerbweight, particularly if you've never towed before. You should be able to get the kerbweight from the handbook (while you're there also look for the maximum trailer noseweight). Obviously if the maximum trailer weight is less than 85% of the car's kerbweight then the lower figure applies. Your type-approved towbar might have a lower maximum noseweight on it than the car's limit, in which case the lower figure applies again. You need to load the caravan to get that noseweight or less.

As far as your licence is concerned, the 3.5 tonne limit is based on the maximum gross weight of your car (that first figure from the VIN plate), plus the maximum weight of the caravan (normally referred to as MTPLM). So if the car's MGW was 2000 kg that would limit you personally (as the driver) to a caravan of 1500 kg MTPLM, regardless of anything else.

Kerb weight is around 1500 ish (pls check thiught) so you're looking at around 1300kg van.
Dont over load the van put as much weight as you can in the car when travelling.
Nose weight is 75kg

I've got a s204 c250 estate diesel and it tows really well.
Tyres pressures I use, general is 36psi all round, I increase to 40 psi all round.
Drives well and corners great. I've tried all combination of pressures, different front back etc but find 40 psi all round to be the best for handling and cornering.
If you have different pressures front and back my car doesn't like to corner, it just wants to go straight.. might be different for your car, check if the pressure sticker, if it indicates same pressures all round for high loads then increase all tyres to the same pressure, usually 3-5psi higher than normal.

Sterling and swift seem to be the lighter Van's.

Hi

the below link will tell you what’s required on the servicing.

Mercedes-Benz UK | Electronic Service Sheet

The weight it can tow is on the sticker that’s normally in the drivers door pilar.
A coupe towing a caravan just looks wrong :p

500 Nm low down , no problemo .

Haha I know but it's the only car I have. I'm not one of them that gets a car to cater my life style I.e estate car for dogs and high riding car for kids, nah ill have a coupe

That's great info thank you for your time
