So as much as I love the 18" AMG Alloys, there were not looked after by the previous owner - so there are chunks out around the rim, and "veins" where acid based cleaners have been used on the wheels.

It took me over an hour to shift a month of brake dust, and get them looking half decent.

I was going to use GTechniq C5 on them, and then decided not to...

So my question here is -

My local Alloy Wheel Specialist can re-finish the wheels in a similar manner, by stripping them back, painting them black, and then removing the paint on the parts that need to be silver. Having seen a set of BMW wheels done in the same manner, it looks OK.

The other alternative is to go for an light Anthracite finish for the whole wheel, and lose the two tone effect that I have at present.

What's the consensus of our members?

This isn't expensive stuff, but could be if I choose poorly. :fail

So any advice here, would be most appreciated. :thumb:

I personally like the two tone finish on your existing wheels and as long as it's not a massive premium over the other option I'd go with that.

As far as i am aware, diamond cut it again will not last long, 2 winters at best with regular cleaning of salt & dirt required and regular waxing.

Powder coating with the light anthracite would be the longer lasting option.

The reason I love being a member here (of 8 years) is that I can always get good honest advice, and opinions.

Thank you...
