Can anyone tell me how to remove the stainless trim that surrounds the windows on the C207 coupe? When I remove the channel seal along the roof above the door glass I can see that the trim along the roof line is attached with torx screws. The problem is that this trim extends over the fixed quarter glass at the rear. I suspect that the torx screws also continue through this area. If this is the case, the rear quarter glass would also need to be removed, and to do this I imagine the interior side trim would also need to be removed. Can anyone let me know if I'm on the right track and also provide me with some instruction on removing the inner panel and stainless trim. I also have no idea how the stainless trim that runs along the bottom of the rear window is removed. I've tried to pry it upwards, as seems to work for a lot of other Mercedes, but it doesn't seem to work for this car. Any help and/or instruction would be appreciated. I want to get a rear quarter guard repair spray painted, and I'd prefer not to have it masked off at the trim.

I worked out how to remove the trim pieces, so I thought I'd post what I've found to help anyone else out who may need to remove this trim. The outer metal trim piece that runs under the rear window can be carefully pried up and away, starting at the end closest to the door, without the need to remove anything else. The outer metal trim that runs over the door and rear window along the roof rail is screwed along its entire length. Mercedes in their wisdom did not think to use clips in the area over the rear fixed quarter glass. This means that the quarter glass needs to be removed so that the screws that hold the trim in place can be removed. The interior trim needs to be removed to access the lower bolt that holds the quarter glass in place. There is also a single screw at the top that secures the quarter glass. The window seal in the upper corner, closest to the quarter glass, needs to be pulled to one side to access this screw. The quarter glass, including the upper channel seal and the lower inner seal are removed together. Hope this info can help someone out.

Good clear instructions. Thanks

Change subject to windscreen if I may.

I just got a crack in mine, and will need to get new screen in my 207. As I've never had to deal with this previously, I was
wondering if you had experience with a Mercedes screen, and what I need to watch out for. Thanks

Good for you for taking the bull by the horns and tackling the problem yourself and then sharing your findings with fellow members - nice one.

It is not something that I would have a go at myself, but I admire you for having a go. I was just wondering, I don't suppose you took any photos of the process going along, as if you did, I would think these could well help in supporting you instructions ... just a thought. 🤔

No, sorry I didn't take any photos. My car already had a repair to the rear quarter and on close inspection it was evident that it had been masked off at the trim. I wanted to to get the job done a bit better. If I'd know how difficult it was going to be I probably wouldn't have done it. The only reason I did was because I believed the trim would be clipped in over the quarter glass like it is on other models. When I tried to pop it out I bent the trim slightly, so I had to remove the trim to straighten the trim as well as do the painting.

I haven't had to replace a windscreen. I know with the amount of technology mounted to modern windscreens that it's a much more involved process than in years past. It's definitely a job for a professional who's work is guaranteed.
