I wonder how many people these days could/would change a wheel even if they had the neccesary items to hand?...

I suppose not many.

I do, however, on several occasions in fact....

And I just bought a full size spare alloy wheel so the space saver that came with the car is safely stored in the house :thumb:

I agree but why not offer a spare wheel kit for those who can or might like to have one for insurance and peace of mind !!
 
Having just had a blow out on my rear tyre which turned out to be a 5 inch split on the side wall of the r18 on my w204, I was relieved to find I had a spare and not the gas /goo option. The roads in Herefordshire are atrocious, with so many potholes and so much general decay. I was on my way in less than 10 minutes rather than having to wait for recovery...
