If you own a C207, it could be worth mentioning that the two plastic covers on each side of the boot lid may hide some not-so-nice-things.

Open the Boot lid, the using a side cutter GENTLY pull out the four plastic rivets. Then using your fingers, gently pull out the remaining rubber rivets.

Lift the two plastic covers and check for dirt and corrosion. I did that on my first C207 some years ago and found rust at the second rivet hole from the top.

The idea from Mercedes is to hide the chassis joints, and they did try to make some sort of "canals" where the water from the rear window is supposed to go, but over the years, dirt gathers and blocks the water from passing and voila! ...
