C220 2014 Estate - COMAND Sat nav map updating

Evening folks. I've got a 2014 C220 Estate (June). I called the main dealer yesterday about upgrading the COMAND Sat nav maps and got quoted £100 which seems a bit excessive to say the least considering the price of Sat navs now. Anyone have any more cost effective solutions? Much obliged for any info...

Yes, it's expensive.

Is your car the previous model - i.e. S204, with COMAND Online NTG4.5?

If so, then you will need to purchase the Maps DVD and also purchase a PIN code from a Mercedes dealer.

If you have the latest C-Class (S205), then your COMAND unit it NTG5.

You would have with it 3 years of free updates - so you could have updated it last month (June 2017) to the latest version for free - presumably this did not happen?
