HEY GUYS RELATIVELY NEW TO THIS FORUM. I OWN A 05 PLATE C220 CDI WHICH IS LOSING POWER AS IF ITS RESTRICTING ITSELF. ABOUT A MONTH AND A HALF THE CAR STARTED TO BLOW LOTS OF BLACK SMOKE OUT OF THE ZORST AND SUDDENLY SHOT UP TO 5000RPM AND WOULD NOT TURN OFF WITH KEY.. I HAD STALL IT TO SHUT THE ENGINE .. AA CAME TO THE RESCUE AND DROPPED THE CAR TO MY LOCAL MECHANIC. ON INSPECTION IT REQUIRED A NEW GARRETT TURBO, COOLANT BOTTLE AND RADIATOR.
HOWEVER THIS WAS NOT THE END, 2WEEKS AFTER IT STARTED TO LOSE POWER, ON ADVICE WAS TOLD IT WAS EGR, SO I SHELLED OUT FOR A NEW EGR VALVE. IT WAS FINE TO START OFF WITH BUT THERE WAS ANOTHER PROBLEM ONLY LUKE WARM AIR COMING OUT OF THE BLOWERS. THE SAME NIGHT A NEW THERMOSTAT WAS PUT IN BUT MADE NO DIFFERENCE. I HAVE SPENT SO MUCH TIME AND MONEY TO BE OFF ROAD. (ALTHOUGH AA DID GIVE ME A COURTESY FOR 3 DAYS) DESPITE ALL THE EFFORT SOMETHING IS STILL NOT RIGHT AT ALL.
ALL PARTS REPLACED WERE GENUINE MERC WHICH COST ME JUST UNDER £2000 TOTALLY GUTTED..
