W204 C220CDI Elegance with Comand
Hello everyone. I have just bought a 2008 W204 C220 CDI Elegance with Comand. 57k and FSH, for a steal frankly. Mint condition and drives beautifully. I aim to keep her for a good many years.

I know a fair amount about cars, had many down the years from my first car at 17, a Morris Marina 1.8TC. New to Mercedes though, things like aux batteries and the like, but hopefully I can contribute as well as learn.

Cheers

Guy :D

Welcome and congrats on the new wheels! Sounds like you found a minter and with low miles too!

Nice to meet someone else who's made the journey from 'Marina to Mercedes' :D

Welcome to the site Guy.

Great intro. Cars sounds lovely. Post a few pics when you get the chance.

Ant.

Will do, I think I need 30 posts though until I can create an album.

^ Just load your piccies to Photobucket or Flikr or whatever photo hosting site you prefer and then link to them in your post using

Looks like a nice spec with COMAND and full leather. Congratulations!

I still think the Elegance spec is great on the pre-facelift C-Class. The ride quality is superb, and so much better than the Sport.

Indeed (;-> 205/55/16 Contis 62 quid a corner fitted.

The suspension is very good - it's the first active suspension car I've had and I do like the way it soaks up bumps but stays flat on corners.

Looks lovely in your album, enjoy

Is it active? :dk:

I run the lower of the quoted pressures, so 29 in the front and 32 in the back. Makes it quieter and softer than with the higher pressures for fast fully loaded autobahn work which I never do.

I believe it does yes. It doesn't handle like anything I've had before, and I have had a lot of different cars down the years. By "active" I just mean the air suspension that soaks up the bumps but doesn't roll on the corners.

I'm experimenting with pressures, I have 32 front, 35 back at the moment. No way am I going 39 at the back which is the recommendation in the fuel flap.

That's only if you've a car full and are going fast. If it's just you, and normal speeds then you'd be over pressure and can get some extra comfort from lowering the pressures.
