2012 C Class Coupe CDI
Dear All,

I hope your well?

My first post on here and I am looking for further advice. C220 CDI coupe 2012 with 104k mileage.

1. I seem to have a wobble/vibration feel from the steering which can sometimes be felt a lot and sometimes very very faintly. It normally occurs at all speeds but not less than 20mph. I have been to WIM and had tracking and balancing done after fitting brand new Michelin pilot sport 4's. Yet the issue seems to carry on. I don't have no issues really with handling as it grips very well etc. A slight wobble can be felt and when it is windy here in UK, the car seems to be very hard to keep in a straight line and goes from side to side and I kind of have to fight to keep it straight, on normal days its not so bad. I have had a couple of indies check the vehicle but they seem to think it's fine. I dont agree.

2. I may have an ongoing injector issue, car shakes when I first turn it on at idle, like the revs go up and down, after a good 4-5 miles it does seem to go away until I put fuel in the car does it again or the car is left for a while it occurs again, wondering if this is what I feel?

3. My C220 feels very bumpy I must say, I thought this may be how the car is but I can certainly feel a lot more of the road than usual quite a lot through the pedals ( 7g auto box ) for eg; hitting a bump can sometimes cause the steering to twitch left or right.

4. I currently have 104k mileage on the motor but not had anything changed at all. MOT has just passed but been told I have the parking brake which is sticking which is causing a slight grinding noise at low speeds in built up areas where you can hear it and clanks over bumps.

Any assistance would be fantastic.

I used to have a scirocco which i was a member on a forum of that vehicle and was great.

many thanks all

Welcome to the forum. I was a member on the Scirocco forum too. I had four in total.

Regarding your vibrating wheel. Could you list all work that you have done so far to narrow down what may still need attention?

There are quite a few things that can affect the car. The fact you say it is bumpy suggests it could be shocks/broken springs or front shock mounts.

As said above 1 and 3 could be worn bushes , shock absorbers etc. you say you had the car checked out by Indys. Where are you based I am sure the forum members can recommend some decent indys in your area.
3 could be anything from fueling, ERG valve to air flow, so the best bet is to get it on star and find out the codes. Then you should know how to sort it out

How ironic I also had 4 in total. Such beautiful cars. I sort of regret selling my last one now as had no issues with it compared to the merc! I mean the only work that has been done is tracking/alignment by Wheels in Motion and balancing by them, brand new michelin ps4 all round, ( issue was happening on previous tyres) , ive spent hundreds on tracking. Never come to solve this slight wobble sensation from the steering. The only issue I have is, should i go ahead and change the parts your suggesting or may I just be throwing money into it without fixing this, ive not owned a 100k car before so i guess my issues are normal.

Im based in Derby, ive taken it to mb automotive loughborough who say it drives fine, and mb centre nottingham who said it needs alignment and fuel injectors after checking on star. Alignment done but didnt fix the wobble however steering is sort of more firm if you can say.

I was going to book my car in with Mercedes nottigham the dealership but unless you can advise me different guys?

Many thanks

Not changed anything? Not even servicing? oil/filters?

Welcome to the forum.

Sorry i have has the usual servicing done and transmissipn service i think they call it at 75-80k from mercedes

I've got to say my C220 CDI with 100k on it feels slightly unsettled by the occasional big bump or pothole, esp the rear, but I'm not sure if they're all like that. The ride is very good though
