Hi guys,
I know this question has been asked a few times.
My 2017 C220 estate is due it's AO service. The first since I bought it.
I completed mercedes online service page and the price came back with £626.
Personally I think this is outrageous. But I suppose that's the price for owning a Merc.
I contacted a local German automotive specialist who quoted £244+vat. They can update the service history with Merc.
I've booked it with them , but now I'm having second thoughts.
Should I keep it with mercedes history ?
Any help would be appreciated.

Look at the scope of the work that is shown on MyService and make sure the specialist is quoting like-for-like. If it's just the routime annual 3yr service then I think it should just be a pretty basic service, but IIRC the fuel filter change is now 3yrs. Even if that's correct £646 seems bonkers.

As for keeping the history, that's up to you - if you're going to keep the car for a while then it shouldn't matter at resale time. Be aware that you'll lose the Mobilo assistance cover - but you may have other arrangments anyway.

As suggested leafy, make sure that the services cover the same scope including additional items. Then once you know whether you’re comparing like with like, decide which you trust most to do a good job. There are good and bad main dealers, and good and bad independents, go with the one with the best reputation.

If you’re planning on selling soon, think carefully about the independent stamp, as many people buying a three year old car - or accepting one as a pet exchange may be put off without a full Mercedes history, others wouldn’t care less. If you’re planning to keep it for years then that need not be a consideration.

I went for the Mercedes service plan, at the time the average was around 450£/each service.
My last one is a service B in November 2020... I'm also not sure what I will do next.

The MB Service Care Plan is a fixed-price plan so its great if taken before a service with several additional items is needed, because the service cost under the plan is the same regardless of what needs doing.

But failing that, a good specialist will almost always be cheaper than a main dealer. The benefits of a main dealer service are the resell value (debatable, and at any rate dependent on many other factors such as private sale or Px etc), and the Mobilo roadside assistance cover (but then you can just become and AA/RAC/Green Flag member).

Your 2017 car (assuming average annual mileage) should have this year a Service A, plus pano roof lubricating. This should cost around £300-£400 at a dealer. I don't think the fuel filter is due yet - isn't it 4 years on your car? Unless your mileage is higher than average. It would be interesting to know what the dealer who quoted £626 actually quoted for - did you get a breakdown?
