Hi All,

Hope someone can help/advice on the issue I am having with my car. I have had the car about 7-8 months. Been fine mostly but recently on a motorway journey I had the engine light come on and car went into limp mode i.e could not get past 3000rpm and overall does not have same acceleration.

Had it checked from a local mechanic with launch system and the above code came up which I believe is a DPF related. Had it cleared but car still in limp mode. Checked the DPF with icarsoft again and I have soot content of 25.1 and fill level of 249. No idea what these figures mean. I have uploaded couple of photos.

So basically I need to know if the DPF is full and how do I get it to regen? Is it a sensor issue? or do I need another system to get rid of the codes?

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

too much town driving, take it on a run 5krevs for bout 20mins

Thanks for the super quick reply.
Problem is car wont go above 3k revs. I have done journeys on motorway recently but since light has come on car is sluggish and even when I can reset it with icarsoft I can't go above 3k revs and shortly after light is back on again. so either some sensor is faulty or the codes are not clearing properly or DPF is messed up.

Have you scanned for DPF sensor error codes?
A faulty DPF Pressure Sensor will give random readings and throw the car into limp mode.
The pressure lines feeding the sensor can become blocked, may be worth disconnecting and blowing thru with compressor.
Latest iCarsoft MBII v2 will enable a manual DPF regen with most models.

Try turning engine off and back on after clearing codes.

Thanks guys for your help.

I am wondering if the codes are clearing properly with iCarsoft or do I need to get it done with star. When I check for codes the iCarsoft after clearing always comes back with pending code so I think its stored and not clearing. Other than that it must be DPF sensor issue. Any recommendations for a indie with Star around Birmingham/West Midlands?

Thanks

Just had this happen on my Transit custom, code reset only worked for a couple of minutes. Forced regen could not clear DPF so ended up with a new DPF, Atomiser & Pressure sensor!

have you cleaned the DPF? if not, that might be why the fault codes keep returning....

In my opinion cleaning seldom works on DPF's unless perhaps it's removed & taken to a specialist, these in car treatments like terraclean are a stop gap but may work for a short time.

To the OP, I had the same issue with my C204 c220, turned out to be the DPF pressure sensor. Clear the fault and it would appear back again. Replaced the sensor for an OEM one plus labour cost me £90.

They go with most things so I suggest It maybe that, I would check the DPF levels also after installation and get a force regen done if your mechanic has the appropriate software. From thereon unfortunately it's just a visual and sound check to see when and it your car is regenning, its a shame Mercedes didn't put a dash light to tell the driver if it is. Would save a lot of ar$e ache.

Just an update:

There were two issues. hole in the turbo boost pipe and DPF pressure sensor. Replaced both and reset DPF with icarsoft and took for a drive and DPF regenerated and all is well for now.

Good to hear. A hole in the pipe? Did you mean the dpf mounting point pipe clips came off therefore giving you a constant engine management light?
