I'm looking for some advice on how I can measure my transmission oil level on my 2011 C220. There is a slight leak from the oil cooler and want to check the oil level in case it has dropped too low. I've seen other video's suggesting there is a dip tube next to the engine oil dip stick, however this does not appear to be the case.

Is yours a 7g tronic?
If yes , the fluid level is measured by overflow from the sump drain/fill hole . These dont have dipstick tube.

The older 5g transmissions have a dipstick tube and you have to buy the dipstick separately

Its where the transmission sump plug screws onto.

And mind you need to check the level on a level surface and when the gear oil is at 38degrees if memory serves me correctly

Unless you are very keen on doing it DYI, I would leave this to an indie.

It can be difficult to have the car raised level on your drive or garage.

An indie will have a proper lift which makes it a very quick job, and you are unlikely to be charged for more than half-hour work.

Obviously, if you have access to a 4-post lift then it's not a problem.

The transmission temp can be verified by STAR or iCarsoft, and if you have the Mercedes Me app or the Mercedes Me Adapter app then you can see the temp there. Some people use a temp gun (like the ones used for Coronavirus screening) pointed at the sump.

Thanks, the mechanic I normally use has been unable to find the tool required to refill the auto gearbox after replacing the oil cooler. Any ideas how to source this?

You need an electric pump, wrap tape around the end of the pipe so it fits tight into the hole pump all the oil in then quickly pull the pipe out and stick the drain plug back in then start it up leave it idiling for 30 seconds then put it in all the gears and then back in park then leave it idiling until the correct temp is reached then undo the drain plug until the excess oil stops running out
