‘Hunting’... huh?

Thought it had been banned !

lol yes revs go up then down a little

Lumpy idle could be due to a lot of things, needs scanning with star.

Are you showing your relatively young age ?
I am sure the term hunting would be well understood by anyone with even a degree of car mechanics knowledge

I’ve never heard of that term before.

If you understand it then maybe try offering the OP some advice rather than questioning me please?

I think I’ve given him the best possible advice in this scenario, without a STAR test we cannot possibly diagnose this.

Thanks

If automatic transmission if could be an issue with the torque converter lock up. The solenoid for this is a common problem and relatively easily changed.
Clues for this:
1. Normally when cold. Mine resolved after about 10 mins in town.
2. Go up a hill when cold with a lightish right foot. The hunting should be more noticeable.
3. Steady speed on cruise control. Watch the rev counter, if it varies by 100 plus rpm it could be this.

Good luck
