hello there everybody!
not really what i'd wanted my first post to be about but here goes.
i recently bought a c230 komp and it's running rich and has a misfire but only when you put your foot to the floor in first and rev it past 4,000 revs. so far i've changed maf, spark plugs, both coil packs and the lambda sensor and i've noticed that the plug nearest on the fan side of the engine (1 or 4) has sooted up again after only being on the car a month. i'm not sure if this is because of the misfire or causing the misfire or just a seperate issue and worringly i also see that in the spark plug well of the sooted plug it has traces of oil in the well itself not on the plug. i'd searched about abit and i thought it could be oil stem seals weeping oil onto the lead causing the misfire hence the sooted plug and the overfueling. so just as a test i did a quick bodge using instant gasket on the affected seal then tightened up the nuts to bolt it down better and changed the leads that run from plugs to the coil packs but it STILL misfires. GRRR i've no idea what else it could be is my only last step to take it off for a diagnostic?!?
sorry for ranting on - any suggestions appreciated.
cheers Dan
