C 230 Kompressor sport estate
Car from Sep '98 with 30k miles and 5-sp auto - has anyone heard of a speed related high pitch sort of whistle that kicks in at precisely 42 mph and is gone by 45 mph. I know its not engine speed related as the noise comes whatever gear you're in. The car drives perfectly, there's no vibration or any other sign of something amiss.
If anyone's heard of this I'd appreciate anything they may have to suggest.

Err, the supercharger whistles, whines, wirs however you want to desciribe it.

You don't mean that do you?

Sorry, not taking p, but have to eliminate it!

Not engine speed related that's why I don't think its the kompressor...

Yeah, I read that part, but still wondered.

Do you know the sound of the Kompressor, ie can distinguish it?

I hear mine all the time, but otherewise try driving with the window dropped and you should be able to tell.

The Supercharger will be spinning from 2500 rpm up if that helps.

Where do you feel the noise is coming from direction wise?

Well I think its coming from the front wheels as I hear it with the window dropped from that direction. I was thinking something with a wheel bearing maybe, the next service is in 4000 miles but I'll drop into to the garage before then and ask them to have a listen. Thanks for your comments.
Cheers

In my previous experience of wheel bearing noise, it kicked in at a certain speed and then just got louder with road speed.... but definitely worth checking out.
