Hey all, I drive a 2002 c230 kompressor automatic. Is there a way to get rid of the rev limiter on my C230 Kompressor? In neutral it stops it at about 4100rpm. I'm trying to N-bomb the car to spin the tires. But when I go from neutral to drive it lowers the RPM's to about 2000 and then goes.

Whatever do you want to do that for???????

The ECU won't allow the gears to engage if the revs are above 1200Rpm to it doesn't matter what revs you have on in neutural.

If you really want to burn rubber hold the car on the brake with the accellerator to the floor. It sould burn well then.

can you please let us all know when you are selling your car so we can AVOID IT!!!!!!!!!

I guess my question was too specific, I want to do this so I can launch my car. As of right now it can only accelerate up slowly.

Please explain what you mean by 'launch'

I think he means like the 'launch control' function on the BMW M3 .....

Basically it just dials in a load of revs and then drops the clutch, but by computer , so it shouldn't wheelspin but should help you to post a great 0-60 time ......

I think...........

He needs to drive a Renault f1 car. He'll have "launch control" as no cost option then. ;)

We fully understood the question, what we're struggling with is a reason why.

He clearly finds the way Mercedes have designed the responsive as a dead rabbit throttle to be a little frustrating as I do!

In my manual, on a clutch controlled hill start, straight off the brake pedal, I momenterilly have to hit the floor rest with the gas pedal to get the revs to pick up enough to hold the car!

thanks for the replies. I was able to get the tires to spin, creating a peel out by holding the brake and gassing w/ ESP off. However, this doesn't exactly create a fast drag time. What I want, is to rev in neutral, then drop into drive in the sweet spot so to speak, which would cause a fast launch of the car off the starting line.

If you want fast accel....Buy an AMG......

It would also cause the gearbox to let go in a big way.
You have been reading too many american forums  ;) .
Neutral dropping (as it used to be called) is not very good for the gearbox  if you do that you WILL end up breaking the gearbox.
Brake stand starts ( standing on the brake pedal with it in drive) wont do gearbox/torque converter much good either.
Can you let us all know the reg of your car then we dont make the mistake of buying it ;)

well, you probably wouldn't be able to buy this car, since it is in california, and i am guessing this is a british forum?

anyways, thanks for all the replies, looks like i should've gotten a honda for street racing then.

This is indeed a British based forum but we do have visitors from the States. Have you found http://www.bnzsport.com ?
