c240 drive belt change

I just purchased a new drive belt and it seems to be about 6" to long. so i am clearly fitting it wrong. any one got a diagram of how it should go. please let me know how it should go. poss Email or fax to me

dieselman should know how. he showed me the diagrams of mine it went all wrong. pm him.
On seconds thoughts you may not be able to.

thanks, but now about the tensioner.

That makes perfect sense now, thanks. but i cant seem to take up the tension with the tensioner and put the belt on all by my self. is there a knack or is it a two man job

gits i posted this first in the other thread tht was started :D

I did it on my own, but you need arms of steel, two people does help, one for the grunt the other to position.

I think you need to hold the tensioner back with a allen key/hex socket driver and a long bar whilst feeding the belt over.

As they say - easy when you know how etc. I've watched an experienced MB tech fit one in literally seconds :o

Maybe get someone to help by holding the tensioner whilst you fit the belt?

Not sure on your C240 but can the radiator shroud be moved (if applicable) to aid access?

Use an E10 Torx socket with a long extension and pull the tensioner anticlockwise. Drop the old belt off.

Feed the new belt around.....no need to remove the shroud....I didn't on mine....I carefully fed it over the fan and pulleys. Again pull the tensioner anticlockwise and slip on the belt.

It really doesn't taken long and it is the easiest belt I have ever replaced.
