My W204 2012 C250 was recently serviced and they discovered a leak on the coolant pump. Other posts on here show it's a common fault but Mercedes quoted around £560 for parts and labour so i've opted to have the work done elsewhere.

i've looked around for parts and a franchise has quoted £160.80 for the pump but will return £44.04 after the old unit is returned but it has to be clean.

Is there anything special they expect the clean process to be?

The pump shouldn't be that dirty, unless you have an oil leak a the front of the engine. They will want it returned in the box that the new one came in, there was no mention of cleaning the old pump when I did mine.

Mine stated on the box must be returned in this box for Re.man. The new pump required two holes to be tapped, one to take the upper idler pulley and the other was for a little bracket on the timing case. Cost cutting in manufacture I would think, two less operations = save money.
