The max power and max torque figures are the same. But the torgue/power curves are still quite different, the "average power" over the important rpm range is better with the straight six. But the 250CDI is still an amazing engine, specifically if the fuel economy figures work in practise.

Having had TVRs and Tigers and a driving enthusiast I always thought I would never have an auto. Cannot see me or the wife ever going back to a manual.
Also said to her that if ever I mention Diesel then slap me around the face!
320cdi has changed my mind, I now want a diesel CL or SL but Merc see no market in this range.
unlike Audi.
I do wonder if a diesel engine would fit in the CL?
