Hi there all,

I replaced my middle and centre silencers with a s/steel catback system from powerflow. I got a straight through I.e. it has no centre silencer but am now regretting it as it is too damn loud. I did this as the centre silencer was too hard to hold of a replacement centre silencer at a decent price, and the shop assured me that a centre silencer would not be needed. Can anyone tell me what impact the absence of the centre section might be having on power and fuel efficiency of the car considering it is a non turbo diesel?

I doubt it will be affecting the econonmy at all, to be honest, you have left the Cat in havent you?

I have had just my rear box removed on a c250 td, and i love it, sounds great and its only loud when you want it to be. i have posted a video of this yesterday in another thread 'exhaust good or bad'

The place that done mine, (pipecraft in basildon) are a custom exhaust specialist, so if you went down there and told them what you wanted i'm sure they could make something up for you.

Thanks Jonathan. What exactly have you had done on your exhaust? It does sound good. Mine is way louder, and im not that keen on it.

Yes I have left the cat in.

Does anyone know if my fuel economy/power could have fallen due to reduced back pressure as a result of the missing centre silencer? I could always take it back to the garage and get them to put on a centre silencer.

Im not sure on the performance side of things, i wouldn't think it would make a difference, it hasnt made my car any slower, but then again i have the center box still in, i only had the rear box removed.

Jonathan
