Hi All, First there was the lack of power then the bad starting so had the MAF replaced and the power came back 4 seals in the diesel pump now starting ok.During all this the hunting started ( i think i'm calling it right idle speed up and down) We thought we had to tell the EMU about the new MAF but i was told on here not so.
So if any one can suggest where i go now before we start ghanging injectors ( oh the cost) that would be great.

Firstly was it a genuine MAF either from dealers or a Bosch MAF from trusted sellers like Euro or GSF? Did you fit in back properly?

It could be an injector, could be fuel regulator causing he erratic idle etc. Before changing or touching anything get it on a star machine, this will save you loads of money and time.

The problem could be tiny so best to confirm the issue before spending any serious money on guess work.

Where abouts are you, i may be able to recommend someone close by who has star.

So had the car on a star system today and the guy said it was the new MAF not working properly at low revs, mechanic ordered a new one from dealers again and will fit early next week. Fingers crossed no more hunting.

Well the problem goes on after fitting the new MAF still the same the electician says it is looking like a wireing fault which he is trying to find useing the wireing diagram here's hoping.

Rob i suggest you take it to someone who knows what they are doing because it does'nt seem like he does.

Genuine parts are hardly ever defective and i think the original one you had fitted was ok as well as you still have the same problem with another one. This does not sound like a wiring issue.

Take it to someone who is familiar with Mercedes.

You have point there but i am going to give them one more go if no joy an indy it is although i was hoping one of the indies on this site might be able to shed some light on the problem.

I hope we can cure it as my nearest indy is 20 miles ( Merc Care Leeds )away and i can't afford to take it to a stealership.
