    Hi gang,

Just a quick one, I've driven to work as normal in my 270CDI and as usual everything was normal, car turns over nice and fast in the mornings so nothing that has been even slightly odd. I spent 3 hours at work then came out to leave and I couldn't unlock car with remote key, I checked key and all looks good, red light flashes and using my phone camera I could see the infra-red light working too. So I used the solid key from the fob to get me in the car, the central locking didn't work but I suspect this may be normal from opening with the key in the drivers lock. Then I put the key in the inginition slot and usually the steering lock releases but this time nothing, not a damn sausage! I've tried to do a basic key reset / sync but nothing happens whatsoever. I had no tools on me at all so couldn't do much investigation but battery leads are on and tight and I don't appear to have left anything turned on in the car and to be honest I don't think anything that could be left on without the key in the ignition would flatten a perfectly healthy battery so quickly! Anyone experienced this kind of issue before? I walked home from work and will pop back with some tools and jump leads etc in a while but any input would be handy before I go back. Thanks all.

As above. No alarm when the door was opened?
Were there any courtesy lights when the door was opened?

3 hrs is a very short time to drain the battery however. Hope you find the cause.

I would be checking/cleaning/tightening the main battery connections.
Time to get a test light or voltmeter out and start diagnosing.

    As per Greenmanslk’s note.

If you are not getting any steering unlocking sound then it could the EIS.
