C280 M104 Water Pump Change - Dooable by Novice ?

alright,

The C280 W202 needs a replacement water pump - is it possible D.I.Y with no ramps or anything with limited experience or is it a garage only pig of a job ? Also is there a replacement gasket or is it just a change the whole unit job ?

book time is around 6 hours on that engine.

there is therefore a great incentive to DIY for the saving in labour costs alone.

I did mine a few year ago (1995 320 coupe 104) over a relaxed 2 days.

The important things are:

* Getting organised via good prep & ordering all parts well beforehand.

* Corrrect tools - needs a special thin wobble ratchet set for access to the 2'impossible' pump bolts of the four; for example.

* workshop manual instruction sheets by your side to refer to.

* a place to work.
