Hi All. Get my new C280 on Monday and am wondering if there's any mods to engine that will give better performance and mpg. Don't know until i get it home if its a 12 plug or six plug set up. I will already have iridium i would of thought. I suppose a light right foot will be best for mpg. Cheers, Tony.

I have the same car, quite rare really. As a 3l v6 its not great on fuel and possibly worse than my I6 IS300 but the driving style makes a huge difference my current average is 17mpg (stop start weekend driving). I have no idea about the Spark plugs. There are no intakes for this model as the intake is already the best it can get. You may be better off looking up the c300 in the usa, same car but as the base model there for ages it has much more support there. There is a lot of throttle lag on this model (may be on all im not used to drive by wire).

Thought id add performance is ok, its not blistering but it depends on what you think of as fast. I thought it would feel faster than my other car, having slightly more power but that car is more on edge/exciting. This is a bit of a sedate feeling. If you floor it theres a nice engine note. As I said throttle response dulls the feeling a bit. My guess is 0-60 in the 7 second range for the auto.

I was being a little stupid, I dont think you have a w204? right. Ignore what I said completely, may be of use to someone else.

12plugs on that engine.

Keep it serviced. Make sure your air filter is clean. Use good fuel, make sure the air mass is working along with the lambda sensors.

I've got a w203 c280 3.0l v6, 6 plugs as its the m272 engine, just came back from a 200 mile trip , all motorway and got 40mpg, round town I usually get early 20's :-)

I don't think there's much you can do to upgrade the engine, just make sure it's well maintained as already mentioned. I averaged high twenties in mine, driving it easy didn't seem to make much difference to the MPG, neither did driving it hard...
