Just driven home from the dealer's in a W205 C300 Cabriolet loaner while my W177 A220 is in for service.
I know the W205 platform is near the end of its production cycle, but I was surprised at how gruff the engine sounds by comparison to the 2L 4-pot in the current A-Class. I hadn't looked at the badging before I drove off, so the only way I could be sure it wasn't a diesel was by checking the redline on the tacho.
The advance in NVH performance between the two successive models is much greater than I would have expected, especially with respect to their relative market positioning.
