Hi guys,

I own a 2018 C300 coupe and I'm wondering if anyone could point me to a guide on how to remove the side mirrors? I want to do this so I can apply vinyl to the window trims because I am planning to black out the chrome. As a beginner, is this something that is easily done or should I leave it to professionals?

Any advice is welcome, cheers!

If you are planning this job be sure to have the correct Torx tools to hand there are different type some have 6 splines and some have 5 often with the anti-tamper nipple on the screw meaning the tool (sometimes) has to have a hole in the tip for it to work. On my car they were the 5 spline type, Torx TR (Tamper Resistant) available on Amazon etc.

Usually the inner door cards have to be completely removed to access the mirror modules so you can gain access to un plug the cable(s) from the mirror control unit. It is useful to have a set of plastic trim removal tools to pop various clamps and catches off without snapping them or scratching anything , also available on Amazon etc , I use mine often , it's worth having a set at home.

The usual routine is to take the door card off first so that you do not have to leave the mirror hanging on its control cables, fold the mirror use a long screwdriver to pop the catch for the cover which will then just slide off giving you access to the screws that hold it on to the door.

This was for my 2006 C class , yours may differ but my guess is not by much.
