Hi, this is my 1st post since newly aquiring my black C32 AMG just recently :D

Quick question...
Whilst driving home late lastnight (maybe a little quicker than UK roads allow:devil:) I had a "check engine oil message" appear on my screen.

I checked the oil once I got home both via the computer calibration and manually via the dipstick (and again this morning), both read fine.

I was just wondering, if I did need to top up the oil, what do people generally put in this fantastic machine?

I heard Mobil 1 mentioned, just wanted to make sure.

Thanks again, and GREAT forums

Welcome to the forum!! Great to have another AMG owner, C32 especially.

Mobil 1 is generally regarded as the right oil for the job. If it's for topping up, I would personally find out what was used at the last oil change, and use that to avoid mixing oils. Either that or do a complete oil change now.

Thanks Bobby, appreciate the warm welcome... and yes, I too own the magnificent C32, such a priveleged club I didn't apprecaiate until I bought one and read this forum..

Brilliant, thanks... is that the 0W 40 Mobil 1???
I can try and find out perhaps what was used last, my "B" service is not due for another 6000 miles tho.

Were you going so fast round corners that the oil was moving around in the sump and causing the sensor to read a low level?

Don't overfill the engine oil - that is just as bad as low oil level.

Ooh, off the top of my head I think it's 0/40. Just the standard Mobil 1. If you're buying some, try Costco - £20+VAT for 4 litres. Worth the membership fee just for savings on oil!!

If you started at 10,000 miles (fixed interval), then covering 4,000 miles and the warning light coming on suggests that you're using a fair bit of oil. That said your manual check suggests it's OK.

I try topping it up on completely level ground (petrol station) based up readings from the dipstick, makings sure you don't overfill. See if it's enough to turn the warning light off, and work out it's a sensor fault.

I just checked it again (in the absence of a dipstick ) and my computer faithfully told me to add 1.0L of oil which I have done.. Mobil 1 of course

thanks to all who read my thread for the help, it's very much appreciated..

:D

Warning message gone now?
