HI
I have some problems with my c32 amg gear box.
All started with some heavy jerks on slow accelerations. After that the car stopped working , gear box lost some transmission oil and didn't changed the gears . Stopped the engine, switched the engine on and it changed the gears .
I took the car to MB dealer they investigated the car and told me it requieres a gearbox electric plate , gasket, oil filter and oil.
I changed that 275 pounds for ( electric kit, elastomer molde, oil filter, pilot bushing, transmission oil 2liters ) + 194 for the job . total= 560 pounds

The car was okey for about 170 miles , then started again to jerk very very bad , the gear box was even locked in the second gear for 2 times .

I took the car back to the MB dealer they carried out a gear box and Torque Converter flush 165 pounds for transmission oil and 195 pounds for job . total 430 pounds

They said all have been fixed and the car is working perfect now , I took the car from the workshop parking area , BUT surprise : the gear box didn't worked was totally faulty , changed 1-2 gears then it ended on Neutral.
I returned the car to the MB dealer after 3 minutes asking them if they tested the car after they done the torque converter flush to check if the gear box its working or not , i assume they didn't but of course they said YES!

Now I don't know what to do . The dealer mechanics said i must buy a new torque convertor ( this will cost me around 1700 pounds ) but they don't offer any warranty . They are not sure this will fix my car .
They only offer warranty for a new gear box+ torque convertor which costs 4800 pounds !!!

Should I change the torque convertor or maybe to try to refurbish it ?

Please help me . Any advices are welcome. Sorry for my bad English !

Take the car to a recommended automatic transmission specialist & they will help you out what part of the country are you in & i will try & recommend someone for you

So many c 32 with transmission probs , I am in the same boat ATM spend loads so far and waiting till Monday to see if it's fixed.

I had some coolant in my ATF so had to change rad and Tc.

Still bucked around, oil levels fine , so back in specialists , i have been reading up in the 722.6 and how it all works.

I have tried to diagnose myself whether it's the tcc lock up valve sticking or modulating tcc solenoid , will have a verdict on Monday or Tuesday. It makes sense as when tcc is turned of through star it doesn't jerk at all but when on it jerks harsher than it should and it's the tcm that tell the solenoid to gradually apply or not depending on signals ect speed revs , so my bets are tcc solenoid for my prob .

Whatever the problem is it grinds ya down as some techs find it difficult to diagnose and the customers wallet is defo going to get hurt like mine has :(

Are there any c32 here that drive ok lol

Bill

Already mentioned this part however got phone call tonight and looks like a fix any one wanna guess ?

Tcc modulating Solenoid I was right , well hope it's a fix but sounds promising no adaptions have been reset all was as it was but new solenoid and he said it looks like a fix , all makes sense

I took the decision to go for a new TC , it will be around 1500pounds , I wait to test drive the car this week after will be changed . But anyway I took the decision to sell the car . I am really really disappointed about all failures I got . I also changed the secondary air pump like 3 months ago , and I got again the engine management light ,,, of course it's again same pump :)) . I have this car for about 6months but I only remember 2-3 nights when the car was really awesome .
I really like the car , but for me every time I drove it over 200miles I definitely had some problems with it ( gearbox , air pump , seats which drained out battery etc etc).
Thanks for the answers and sorry for the late answer I was abroad .

Hi mate you seem to be having a very bad time :( can't you take it somewhere that you trust to help you . If you have then ignore me . Feel bad as all the troubles I have had with mine have now gone :( good luck mate

I loved the car , always took it to MB dealer , didn't made any rebate on spending money .But for the moment I lost my trust on this model . It's strange because I have also a C280 from 97 and it works smooth didn't spent any money on this car . And on this AMG model i have spent lot's of money and I don't enjoy seeing it every time in workshop its more a matter of lost time rather than money.
I m happy you solved your problems with the gearbox. I wait to get the car this week , maybe I will give it a second chance :) who knows ..

Let me know when or if you want to sell, I'm looking for a C32 next.

I'm in South Yorkshire.

I was abroad, tomorrow I will go to MB to get the car. I will let you know if the car is OK , and yes it is for sale .

The car don't work . Torque convertor replacement didn't fixed the problem . AND now they asked to pay again 1600 pounds for it even if the car don't work , and 3200 for a new gear box. How this can be possible at a damn MB dealer !!! I asked to fit my old torque convertor and give my car back because they are ripping me !

If they diagnosed it incorrectly then I wouldnt pay a penny.

To find the fault the gearbox needs to be stripped and inspected. I cant see how they came to the conclusion that the TC was knackerd without stripping the box to look in detail.

I wont pay a penny but I don't know a legal way to take my car from them now without paying this last <<fix >> . Maybe to go with my second key .:) and just take my car from their parking area

They don't try to diagnose the fault they have some steps . If it's not working with a transmission flush they replace you an electric plate .. then a torque convertor and finally you need a gearbox !! I think everyone from this board can be a mechanic in such a dealer workshop (with all the respect for real mercedes mechanics )

I m really really disappointed about the whole story!

Legally your car is still your car. Dealer can either keep until paid for or can give it you back and wait for payment. Tell them to remove all parts they have fitted and refit your old parts as they have not fixed your fault and are carrying out guess diagnostics at your expense. Or just go and take your car with the spare key. They will have to pursue you through the county courts for payment. Or you can pay the bill in protest and reclaim via county courts. Or ask if you can take the car to test or be looked at elswhere and see if they will let you drive it out of there. Where are you based? Think you need to find a decent auto transmission specialist and get it properly diagnosed and repaired or rebuilt.

I always wanted a c32.I think I have changed my mind.Rather stick with my c200.

Thing is when it's working it's truly an amazing machine , despite problems still in love
