C32 AMG wanted

As title - I'm after a C32. Cash waiting and willing to travel. I'm in the most south east corner of the country so everywhere's a mission to get to.

If your budget can stretch to it, i'd go for the C55 instead. Its a smoother car and drives noticeably better being a facelifted car. Its quicker too :)

Dover?

excellent choice.

Good low mileage ones seem to be considerably more expensive, and they seem to be even rarer than C32's

My budget is around 7.5 - 8k. Seen plenty (well some) easily within that, but up till now I've had two cars to sell to raise the ££££. First ones gone, second is going this weekend (if everything goes to plan).

So I'll be carless and in need of some AMG in my life!

Have a look at this thread for running costs:

Remember to put something away for the inevtiable. They seem like amazing cars, but do need TLC.

The two cars I've sold / am selling are an old mk2 Golf GTI and a mk4 Golf 4motion. Between the two of them I've spent at least £2500 this year + service and MOT.

Also 2 x insurance and road tax.

The 4motion is thirsty too, being a 2.8 V6 driving all four wheels - I'm currently averaging 23 mpg. Less if going no where near a motorway.

I reckon the savings I'll make from running those two should enable me to afford a C32 (neither of my current two are expensive cars, but one due to it's age and one due to it's 4 wheel drive are pricey to run)

i paid £7400 for my c32 about 6 months agao and love it . i have a couple of problems though , the alternator packed up and the stepper motor has gone , making an annoying clicking noise . but thankfully i took out a warrenty on the car and have'nt had to pay out .

the plus sides are my car came fully loaded . and £7400 for a car with 72000 miles and a full mercedes service history and 354 horses under the bonnet . it felt like a bargin to me . and is the ultimate wolf in sheeps clothing .

have had a friend to check the car over for me as its not due a service for another 5000 miles and all he could find wrong with it was the front bushes were a bit cracked .

next year i will be having to lay out for wheel refurbishment , a full service and the front bushes and maybe a new pulley and ecu remap to boost the power up to 394 bhp .

id go for it :thumb:

Cool. Cheers everyone.

As no one seems to have one they want to sell me, is there anyone in my bit if Kent that has got one and wouldn't mind letting me have a look / take me for a quick spin????

That way I know I'll be much more willing to travel for a decent one :)

Expect 20-28MPG in a C32. When you want to mod it give me a shout!

My best advice is get the newest you can afford. They got better built later on.

Yep. they are good for the miles. 100k plus is not a problem.

I've just checked - all the ones I've got my eye on are either 02 or 52 reg. New enough?

Mileage seems to range from 50k to 135k!! (I'd definitely prefer nearer the lower figure)

Also - they all seem to be silver, with a couple of black ones (oh and one blue one). On a US site they seem to have a wider choice of colours - red, White, gunmetal grey etc. Is this just because all cars in the uk at this time seemed to be silver or black??

Newer if you can. Early 203s were/are turd. I count my blessings that they are otherwise we would have no work to do!

There does seem to be a big jump in the price when you get a couple of years newer. I'll have to see if I can raise extra funds or run the risk.

What sort of issues are we talking about??
