I had a problem with the C32 this weekend.
Was driving along around 65 and sudden complete loss of power, esp warning "go to dealer" came on, I had been driving normally for 40mins, engine ran but would not rev.

Pulled over engine was hunting at idle. turned off removed key re-started, problem gone, engine ran fine. 5 miles later same thing. Restarted and drove on, had loss of power, but manged to get to destination 10 miles on.

When I arrived car was hunting at idle again.

I have also noticed some other strange things during the drive, sunroof stoppped, Command froze and when switched off at one time had one headlamp on ??? (No parking light) all just temporary incidents??

Borrowed a car as I was away at weekend, collected car and limped slowly back to Oxford tonight. When I start car now ESP warning comes on as above and car will not rev, also running on 4/5 cyclinders? after a few attempts I can get it to start, with engine light on and no errors, running smoothly but in limp mode?

Any ideas?

I had already diagnosed a new IC cooling pump a couple of weeks ago which I have not had chance to do.

This sounds electrical, never had any problems before..

I have not experienced anything like this before however...

My Dad once managed to get water in his fuse box / ecu area on a Granada Scorpio causing things like the headlights to glow / alarm to go off / the windscreen wipers would start up on their own while the car was parked and it was running like a bag of spanners.

When the IC cooling pump went on my C32 it would lose power but would not throw any errors or 'go to dealer messages' it would just cut the supercharger off for a brief period of time say a few seconds (While the AIT dropped back down).

Ocassionally (about every 3 months or so) my car throws a BAS - Brake Assist Error and ESP Electronic Stability Error when I am driving down the road from my house. This has only ever happened from cold about 1 minute into the journey. A stop turn off and restart always clears it and it's fine again for another 3 months! I just figured it was a quirk with this car. This however does not fit in with what you have described.

Best I can offer. Hope you get it sorted.

Andrew

Thanks for the reply.

My list of checks at the mo (from reading forums posts)
1. Change IC pump.
2. Check earth strap
3. Check battery voltage

However I am not really sure what to look for on the battery voltage, except if there is a significant drop.

It hadn't rained for ages when it happened, so its not water ingress.
Earth strap is a possible, perhaps a reset by disconnecting battery.

If they don't sort I'll need to find a star machine somewhere near to Oxford.

I cant see the IC pump causeing the engine to hunt as said above all it would do is stop the kompressor from working until the intake temp had dropped low enough.

Personally i would get a star test done on the vehicle.

What part of oxford are you in

Im in East Oxford, any suggestions for someone who has a star system nearby?

So that makes you about 50 miles from me.

I dont mind travelling if you would like me to come and have a look at it for you

Thanks willow, Been away with work and dropped it at a friends garage.
He was using a Snap on diagnostics kit.
At the moment it looks like there may be a problem with wiring to the throttle pedal.
causing this fault. Aparently by waggling the wires, the fault comes and goes.

The C32 does not like talking to the Snap on though unless it used ODB.

Will get an update, but may still take you up on that offer!
