Hi folks,

Anyone know the "service A" costs for the C32 ?
Mines due shortly (<1200 miles) and I might need to start saving and scrimping for it.

Currently got 55k on the clock and all is well. I might get the gearbox fluid changed at the same time as it appears to be quite "clunky" at the moment, and slips gears more than I'd like at times.

Anyone any ideas of the cost of this ?

Cheers muchly.

Mark

We can all guess but your best bet is to call the servicing dept of the workshop you are going to take it to and ask. They can give you an answer in a couple of minutes and it's a lot more accurate than anything we can come up with here!

well i cant think why an A service should be any more expensive than a normal car as its just an oil change... i would say around the £200 mark as long as nothing else is picked up...

Doh, should have thought of that !
£283 plus £150 for the gearbox fluid replacement.

My last A service cost £250, less my usual discount, so about £220.

ATF change looks about right too - I didn't pay full price for that either.

If you do the ATF change it may be worth asking them to do a Glycol test on it first - either that or keep a sample. Just in case there's a Valeo rad waiting to bite!!

Cheers BD, last time it was in for "issues" back in Jan they tested the gbox for Glycol and it had no issues. Obviously that doesn't mean it's issue free now.

For the record... it's still bloody outstanding. Big hoof of throttle makes me cackle like a demented person ;)

Given the clunks and slips it might be worth mentioning the following to your dealer, if you think it might apply to your car...

During gentle acceleration humming/droning noises can occur in the speed range between 1200 - 2500 rpm. Likewise it cannot be ruled out that the vehicle will jolt in the rpm range stated.

Makes it difficult to move on, doesn't it? The only other car with similar performance and subtle looks is a tweaked 335i, but that would be much more expensive than the AMG.

Very useful info. I've noticed a bit of a droning with a similar frequency vibration at low revs. Almost feels like one of the tyres is slightly out of balance (which it could be).

Not too worried at this stage. Might completely change if I find out more though ! Your post was most useful. My service principal hates it when I turn up laden with info !

If the car is three years old or more, ask if they operate a discount scheme for older vehicles, you might save a few quid.

It's a 2002, excellent idea. Ta

Hi

£283 oil changes are just such a rip off.

£150 is ok for gearbox if they change all the oil but if it is just the 4 litres or so in the sump and not the contents of the TC then it is a rip off too.

Be sure and eat plenty of their cream buns and drink loads of their coffee when you go to the dealership, oh and sit around looking important with the spivs in the suits. Then you will feel that you have got value.

I know what i would do.
