C32 AMG
my cars due a service B now and mercedes have quoted me £1000 + vat to which im horrified!

ive found yself a reputablespecialist in Highams Park London who are more than happy to do the job but I need some adivce on parts, should I go with all original stuff ie Sparks, Filters etc or get performance aftermarket gear? (if so who/where should i buy from)

As its going to be getting the air filters changed should i consider upgrading these to ones of a SL55 & how easy do they go on? wot diff would it make etc etc... all help on this matter will be appreciated.

I need to get the car serviced & back on road by next week so am looking forward to all your replies.

thanks folks

the best thing to do performance wise would be get the car remapped and different pulleys on the crank and supercharger. different air filters will only make minimal difference apart from sound nicer. the exhausts are quite restricted on the 32 so get a straight through system or hi flowing cats. cks performance or elvove your ride can provide these bits. a grade colder running spark plugs should be used when getting chipped though regards ed. stick to oem until youve done proper research. mercedes spend millions on r+d for a reason. also is that your 36 in the pic?
regards ed

Air filter won't make much difference, just noise. Save your money on the 55 conversion or upgraded panel filters - if you really want better airflow get one of these:
Code3 Performance : Performance Intake

For sparkplugs, Sparkplugs UK NGK Champion Denso Sparkplug, Glowplug and Lambda Sensors are good but unless you're planning to increase boost pressure (upgraded pulley) then I'd stick to standard temperature plugs - ideally the MB OEM plug (not necessarily from the dealer though).

For fuel filter, stick to MB.

If you want to modify, then look to Code3 Performance : Home or LET Motorsports - European Tuning and Performance (related companies) for ideas.

On the subject of price...

Always worth shopping around. Not got my numbers with me but last week I was calling a few dealers for B-service prices.

First dealer was MB themselves. What was first £299 for a B-service turned to £499 once they realised it was an AMG. Plus fuel/air filters and other additional items took it to £1000. No additional items, no stamp.

Second a franchised dealer. Straight away a sensible price at £269 for a B-service even when they knew it was an AMG. Prices for additional items significantly less than the first quote too.

Third a franchised dealer from a different group. Started at £279 for a B-service, but said list was £369 once he realised it was an AMG, but would still do it for £279. Prices for additional items same as dealer 2 give or take a few pounds.

Supplying my own oil will take it down to £200 with either of the second two.

thanks for the advice guys, bdabdabeav in the pic is my old C43 which I sold to my cousin who since has mated it with a tree on a bend, just waitng on the insurance company verdict
