C320 CDI Lights coming on when parked

Hi all,

So having owned our car for about a year now its been plagued with an electrical problem. The red battery light kept coming on.

First I thought it was the battery and or alternator on the way out so replaced both of them and the light kept coming back.

Having essentially given up and resigned to having to take it to a specialist I noticed the front and rear side light in one side was on, even though the light switch was in off.

So next I checked for a drain and there is a.drain of 0.2A on the battery with everything turned off.

To add insult to injury the power steering has sprung a leak too.

Its really sad as we love the car, its a sport and had a full independent service history before. Goes like stink and looks cool with Amg wheels and sport trim.

Any advice on what to do to it (except set fire to it!!) Would be greatly appreciated !!

Front and rear side light on one side could be the indicator arm to provide parking lights. To check the other problems, you really need a code reader other than the leak.

Or you have the headlight switch too far anticlockwise.

I tried leaving the switch in Auto as well but doesn't seem to stop it. I think its something separate.

Is there some control box called a SAM or something?

There is a SAM but to find out what is going you need STAR. You were going to take it to a an specialist - recommended. Likely to be cheaper than throwing parts at it.
