C350 cdi. Running but not on all 6?

Started car after around 2 weeks, was ok for a few seconds then sounded rough. Managed to back out of the garage. Switched off, thinking what’s the matter. Started again sounded a bit better. Went for a short run.
Next day started ok but not right. Went around a mile, not cleared. Stopped restated twice. Fault now cleared. No fault light is showing. The car has done 95k always been fine. Anyone know what may have caused this ?

Mouse making a nest and having a chomp through the engine harness?
Happened on my slc.

Given your description it may be 1. Glow plug(s) not functioning, or 2. Glow plug controller not functioning.

The glow plugs heat during the first couple of minutes to ensure smooth running. If they do not heat the engine will still start and run, but there will be noticeable roughness.
In addition to the rough running the glow plug light will relight instead of going out.

Does any of this seem familiar?

Yes - I suspect glow plugs too. Do you see the little curly yellow light near the speedos flashing up (or staying up)?

Started my 350CDi after about 3 weeks layoff, it turned over a bit slow then started running ok, drove off the drive and its started running very rough, after about 20secs it cleared.
