Sounds like one of my rear wheel bearings have gone. Shall I have both replaced, or just the one?

Phone a local bearing distributor, they should be able to quote you a competitive price. Just ensure you buy a quality brand.You only need to replace the side that has failed.

That is very unusual. They are very very reliable on the whole. Have you double checked it?

Bearings don't creak generally. I expect you have a worn ball joint. The front lower arms are mega common.
