C350 Sport Edition First Impressions

1. Why has my pan roof got a solar panel in it above the windscreen?

do other 204s with pan roof have the solar panel?

Posh Audi has/had them to power fans to ventilate the car in hot conditions, I think.

I don't know about other W204s though that's a good question. My car has REST and can ventilate the car for 30 minutes when I'm not in it, so I guess it could be something to do with that functionality.

REST has been standard on MB climate control for years .. although that is more about using engine residual heat to keep cabin warm without engine being on

I can activate the a/c or heat for a period by using the BMW App on my phone

yes, but that means you have to drive a BMW .. too much of a compromise for some rarely used feature :D

1. Why has my pan roof got a solar panel in it above the windscreen?

I had a solar panel on the panoramic roof of my old W211 e-class and was told that it would power fans to keep the car cool in the summer.

This was the best photo I could get to show that Black Ash isn't a plain black like piano black but a grained but very glossy black. HTH

1. Why has my pan roof got a solar panel in it above the windscreen?
2. How should I clean the Pan roof; as glass or as bodywork?
3. Can my aircon be Lemon scented-it appears to be?

Thanks Tan. It sounds like the panel is some form of additional power supply for the climate control then (one way or another).

Any thoughts on Questions 2 and 3

Cheeky scamp! At least I don't drive in flip-flops :p

one day, when you mature, you will be able to develop and master this wonderful skill :D

I don't know about the solar panel. I'm not aware of there being one on mine - I'll have to remember to have a look sometime.

Q2 - I clean my pan roof the same way as the car's bodywork, ie I don't bother using a smear-free cleaner on it when washing and I do wax it when waxing the rest of the car.

Q3 - I should think a lemon scented cleaner was used on the interior and that the smell will fade in time. I doubt that the air con is lemon scented.
