C350e owners club

Tried pre-entry for the first couple of times this weekend. First impressions are similar - it doesn't chill the car. I seem to remember from earlier in the thread that pre-entry doesn't use your temperature settings, so I've just looked it up: outside temp below 20C activates heating and outside temp above 20C activates "ventilation". Doesn't sound like it will ever deliver 17C...

When we had those really hot days a few weeks ago I tried setting it to chill ready for my wife to leave work and apparently it worked a treat! Ice cold when she got in. That was remotely via the App; I don't understand the unlock method yet!

You have to have the A/C turned on from when you last used the car, if it is on when you park it and the is enough charge it will switch on the A/C as part of the pr entry cooling. It works with both the app and the key on mine.

Thank you Mike, I think you've nailed it with that explanation. The two conflicting posts above yours didn't seem to make any sense at all.

I've just done a series of tests with ambient OAT of 20°C, a demanded temperature of 17°C and "Auto" selected. All louvres closed except the driver's centre console louvre.

With AirCon OFF before shut down the PCC with key resulted in an airflow temperature of 13° from the single louvre.

With Aircon ON before shut down (having been run only briefly) the PCC with key gave an airflow temperature that dropped fairly quickly to 6°C.

I was unsure whether this might have been the result of residual cooling in the AirCon so I left it running for as long as I dare (given the 5 min time limit). The airflow temp remained constant at 6°C.

I'll probably do a few more tests to make sure that my results weren't a fluke; but at the moment it looks as though sxileander's and your results can be relied upon. And I'll read the manual's pages yet again to see if and where we are told about this. I've certainly found the bit on page 156 para two that states what "Dodgy" thought was the case. And he was right as far as it went.

Thanks again :thumb:

Thanks

Thanks for replies guys.

Good to hear it is quick. I kind of have it in my head that it will beat most a6, 5 series alternatives bar the super powerful models.

Seems like the massive features of the car require a lot of work to understand but being a car geek that is part of the fun.

Does anyone know if apple CarPlay is standard or comes with any of the packages?

Also - is the function on cruise control where it keeps you within a defined distance from the car in front (distronic?) part of the driving aid package or is it on one of the other packages. Drove a mates golf with it recently and was very impressed. Fear that is is part of driving package though.

Good to hear on the headroom. I sat in one with the panoramic sunroof and it definitely felt tight - I maybe just need to rejig seat position a bit.

Upgraded sound system good? Probably the only bit my wife will be impressed with in whole car. I think i have made it sound like such a complicated machine she is saying she won't drive it!!

Does lowering the car to lowest level help with the look of car when only fitted with 17inch wheels? I would have loved bigger but the hit on extra BIK not worth it.

Do all new models now have blue brake calipers? Any pictures of those?
Thanks again for thoughts and keep posting pics. Somehow seeing your real life pictures is different from looking at them on merc website etc. How sad...

1st Annual Service

Just had mine serviced, 6,000 miles with 3,800 showing as engine off. My main use is town driving and with charging every evening I have achieved ave. 64 mpg.

But this opening and closing of the flap and leaving exposed to the elements has taken its toll when last week the exterior flap snapped off. Whilst it is a small part unfortunately the mounting is part of the rear bumper which needs to be removed so rather a large job. Mercedes are refusing to cover under warranty so I am sure more users will over time be disappointed at this design weakness.

Has anyone lese reach 12 months yet?

Unless you have been hanging off the flap or using it in some other strange way I would be battling hard for them to stand over this??!

Was it knocked in a public charging area ? have you charged where people ( kids ) can knock it ? or are you simply saying its snapped due to the weather ? it does seem somewhat odd to say the least

Anyones USB slots been a bit iffy - i have had several occasions where media simply stops accessing any of the USB slots and also the media hard drive. It fixed itself eventually but wasn't just a simple switch off /on like most IT problems. ..

CarPlay is not available in the UK

Its Distrionic Plus and as you say it part of the £ 1,700 Driving Assistance Package. Once used you'll want to never be without it !

I'm 6'2" and have no problems - more headroom than in my CLS without a sunroof

Sounds ok to me !

The default is the lower setting - makes no appreciable difference even when up - less than an inch I think

A lot of the cars are ordered 'unseen' and the boot is of interest - photo of mine - the big bag is now in the garage and I managed to get the small one in the compartment on the left of the boot. I find the 'step' very useful as it wide enough to put in say shopping bags and then they don't roll about.

I've had mine almost a year and other than the satnav needing to be reset by turning off and leaving car off for 30 mins - I used the call button and the service was very good. I've just turned over 10k and the average is 43.5mpg which is what I was expecting - I always thought that the 130mpg was fiction following in the traditions of VW

Hi all

Just had Mercedes me activated on my Alphabet lease car no issues, they were very helpful and even set over the merc permission paperwork filled in for me, quick phone call to dealer and switch on happened about an hour later

One question with it, when you send location / route to car from app where should this appear in the system as dont seem to get any message or route appear on command, i have prem plus with full system??? Any ideas on what i am doing wrong?

Previously in my 5 series a message would appear in the idrive saying destination available

Oh and my pre climate also cools the air for sure if it is a hot day and car states above 20. If cooler the air seems to be ambient that is blasting out

It is in the online apps on Comand. Go to Mercedes web apps in Comand (globe icon on the top menu band) and find the Web apps - open that and then open the POI download app. You can then access POIs that you sent from the web app or Google maps.

You can also get to this from the Destination
Menu on the Nav screen - Mercedes Web app option.

You will need a working internet connection from your phone in the car to do this - so pair your iPhone and also enable Personal Hotspot.

This is not as good as the BMW method which uses the car's sim and SMS to transfer destinations so that they are all there the next time you drive.

Hi ryeltep

Just as you said they were all there, would have never have found, worked a treat

thanks!

Nottingham Mercedes have two unregistered saloons on their forecourt and reduced (old stock apparently) - one has the blue callipers the other doesn't

Suggests supply must be better now…

Google Mercedes AA

Seems like an ad that might interest C350e owners!?

At least in my experience, they are an awful dealership.

Just back from France and lots of driving - did attempt plugging in via 13A brick and a travel adaptor - my advice is DON'T - even on low setting after a couple of hours the travel adaptor was slightly deformed and incredibly hot...
Averaged around 37 mpg with lots of fast motorway there and then short country journeys whilst there...

Anyone who has a car up for doing a YouTube video review??
